Background

John Peters runs the coaching programme at Grafton. He is a licensed LTA Level 3 coach and has been coaching at the club since 2004. He is as happy coaching absolute beginners as he is first team players and our up and coming juniors at the club who compete at county and regional squad level. John works very closely with Tennis Surrey in helping juniors across the county play more competitive tennis, hosting a large number of Surrey junior tour events at Grafton.

Our policy is that non-members may take up to six lessons with John or the other professional coaches before joining the club. John offers both group and individual lessons, with an optional video analysis service offering comparisons of your own strokes with those of top players.

Ben Tullett joined the coaching team in April 2010 from Australia. He is an accomplished player, having achieved an ITF junior world ranking of 338 and an ATP world ranking of 1016 as a touring pro. He is a highly qualified coach through Tennis Australia, equivalent to LTA Level 4. His achievements include coaching Jelena Stojanovic from a complete beginner to No 2 ranked 12U player in Australia within two years. He coaches adults and juniors of all ages and standards. Issie Beesley is an LTA Level 2 Registered Coach. She worked for the LTA for 5 years, the last three in Surrey as the Tennis Development Manager. Her focus in on mini tennis and coaching for schools.

Grafton Coaching Programmes

Here is the entry form for the upcoming Junior Autumn Tennis Coaching

Members can book coaching courses by returning forms by post (with a cheque) to John Peters, 24 Wilkinson Street London SW8 1DB or by email. If responding by email, then cheques or cash may be given to John by hand or left behind the bar (in an envelope), no later than the date of the first session. Please put the name(s) of children for whom you are paying on the backs of any cheques or on a note accompanying cash. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Events are open to non-members: application forms to be completed in all cases, including free sessions.

Junior Tour events
We are also hoping to run some junior tour events and the provisional dates are as follows:
12 and Under: 09/10/2010 10am – 3pm
14 and Under: 06/11/2010 10am – 3pm
10 and Under: 20/11/2010 10am – 3pm
9 and Under: 27/11/2010 12pm – 3pm

All the events are open to both boys and girls. They are Grade 5 events, meaning they are for reasonably experienced competitors.
Entries will be registered online through the LTA website.
